Typical Applications

  • Air‑Cooled Xenon Tester: Textiles, paints, inks, paper, wood flooring, general coatings, plastic components
  • Water-cooled Xenon Arc Tester: Automotive exteriors, high‑performance coatings, petrochemical materials, large‑batch testing, premium materials
  • UV Weathering Tester: Plastics, outdoor packaging, coatings, rubber, non‑critical fast screening, cost‑sensitive projects

How to Choose the Right Weathering Tester

  • Define your test goalsDetermine if you need full‑spectrum solar simulation (xenon) or only UV degradation (UV tester). Check required standards and material type.
  • Assess spectrum and realismXenon arc delivers full sunlight matching real outdoor exposure; UV testers focus only on shortwave damage for faster screening.
  • Evaluate sample size and throughputWater‑cooled xenon offers much higher capacity; air‑cooled suits moderate volumes; UV is compact for small batches.
  • Consider control precision Xenon models provide closed‑loop irradiance, temp, and humidity; UV is simpler for basic cyclic aging.
  • Review operating cost and maintenance UV testers have lower lamp and utility costs; air‑cooled xenon is balanced; water‑cooled xenon offers superior performance at higher investment.
  • Test compatibility and validateRun preliminary trials to confirm the instrument reproduces your target failure modes.
  • Consult experts Contact testing equipment manufacturers for tailored advice on standards, configuration, and accessories.

Conclusion

Xenon arc testers (air‑cooled and water‑cooled) provide full‑spectrum, realistic weathering for high‑accuracy material evaluation. UV accelerated testers offer fast, economical screening focused on ultraviolet damage.
